Zrcátka/Little mirrors

Myslíme to přece dobře.

Dětské oči se promění v zrcátka a my v nich spatříme sami sebe. Svoje chyby, nenaplněné touhy, zklamání. Děti vstupují na svět dokonalé, čisté a šťastné. Dětství je svět za zrcadlem. Sen, ze kterého se nesmíme probudit. Horečka, kterou nesmíme zchladit.

We mean well, don´t we? By telling them what is right, enforcing our ideas on them, grinding the edges of their personalities. We educate, tame, correct, threaten, forbid …

We are consistent, so eventually the day comes when the princess no longer wears her crown, the knight stops fighting the dragon and the Elves become invisible. Children’s eyes turn into little mirrors and in them we see ourselves. Our mistakes, unfulfilled desires, disappointments. Children enter the world perfect, pure and happy. Childhood is a world behind the mirror. A dream from which we must not awaken. Fever we must not cool.
